What Caused Carnival Cruise Ship to Tilt Violently?
In late October a Carnival cruise ship suffered a mechanical problem which resulted in significant danger for the ship’s passengers. The ship tilted violently to one side, so much so that it became difficult for some passengers to remain standing.
Passengers report tables, chairs, and dishes falling over as the ship remained tilted for several minutes. Some passengers even reported believing that they were going to die. But despite the extent of the hazard, no passengers reported significant injury as a result of the tilting.
In a statement about the incident, Carnival acknowledged that the ship did experience a mechanical issue, but said that passengers were never in any danger.
