Update: Miami Beach Police Cruiser Strikes Teen Bike Rider
A Miami Beach police cruiser struck a bicyclist Thursday night, resulting in the victim being transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Local10.com reports that the collision occurred as the police cruiser was traveling eastbound on Quail Roost Drive near Southwest 127th Avenue.
Though precise details about the collision were not immediately available, the report does indicate that it appears the police cruiser struck the bicycle from behind. First responders transported the 15-year-old victim to Kendall Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not released the identity of the officer involved in the crash or the victim, and have not commented as to the victim’s medical condition.
