The vehicle’s driver, 18-year-old Venkata Sai Krishnamurthy, was driving to Taco Bell when he apparently got lost and phoned someone for directions. As he was talking he mistakenly drove his vehicle into a nearby lake.
A good Samaritan, 17-year-old Aiden Perry, was walking by the scene of the submerged vehicle and went into the lake to attempt to help. Perry, who apparently did not know how to swim, then needed rescuing himself. After first responders pulled Perry from the lake, he later died from his injuries.
On Wednesday authorities recovered Krishnamurthy’s body and his vehicle.
Authorities continue to investigate what went wrong.
