Two Fatal Key West Boating Incidents in One Day
Personal injury. Why not choose the best?
Authorities with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission report that a serious parasailing accident left one person dead and another severely injured in Key West last month.
CNN.com reports that the victims were in the water on a parasailing adventure during a period of harsh weather. As they were lifting into the air they suddenly fell into the water. Authorities transported 36-year-old Nicholas Hayward, of Costa Rica, to Lower Keys Medical Center, where doctors later pronounced him dead. They transported 28-year-old Azalea Silva, of Texas, to Miami-Dade County’s Jackson Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition.
NBCMiami.com reports that the pair were on a Sunset Watersports excursion when the accident occurred.
NBC reports that the same day as the parasailing tragedy one person was killed when a group of five people were boating at night looking for a channel marker near Long Key Bridge and mile marker 70. The 36-foot vessel in which they were traveling hit rough waters and ejected four of the passengers from the boat.
The report did not indicate the condition of the other victims of the collision.
