Teen Killed in Boating Accident in Citrus County
Florida authorities have announced the death of a teenager who was involved in a serious boating collision on Saturday, March 13.
ChronicleOnline.com reports that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission announced the teen’s death on Monday. The accident occurred as a boat was traveling north on Citrus County’s Tsala Apopka Lake chain. The boat was occupied by a pilot and a passenger and was towing the victim in an inner tube behind it.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Karen Parker says that as the boat bent a curve to the left the inner tube veered right, striking a cypress tree. The victim was launched into the water and was only found after a 30-minute search. First responders performed CPR on the victim, but the victim was later pronounced dead.
Authorities identified the victim as Serra Sullivan.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
