South Florida Man Charged with the Hit-And-Run Death of Teen Girl
Police arrested a South Florida man on Friday and charged him with the hit-and-run killing of a teen girl.
Local10.com reports that police arrested 60-year-old Jose Fimia and charged him in connection with the death of 16-year-old Dayana “Diani” Gomez, who authorities allege Fimia struck on May 16 as she went for a jog. Instead of stopping to help the victim, Fimia fled the scene in violation of Florida law.
Gomez’s family found her body near the Pelican Harbour boat ramp on the night of the incident.
Authorities are charging Fimia with a variety of offenses, including vehicular homicide/failure to stop and leaving the scene of a crash causing death, Local10.com reports.
