Runaway Boat Crashes into Residential Docks in Palm Beach County Neighborhood
A runaway boat caused significant consternation in a Palm Beach Gardens community on Sunday after it crashed into multiple residential docks.
WPBF.com reports that the boat was caught on surveillance camera crashing into the docks including the private dock of Vincent and Cynthia Pellerito.
Apparently, someone had been piloting the boat and then lost control of it. The boat’s occupant can be seen on the surveillance video swiftly exiting the boat before it struck the docks.
The Pelleritos described the situation as being “Like a movie, a boat flying right at our living room,” and added that “There could have been a fatality, which is obviously horrible. Somebody could have been killed, hurt, you name it.”
Vincent Pellerito says that he believes the boat’s high rate of speed may have been a factor and that he sees many boats going far too fast on the waterways near his home. The speed limit in the area is 25 mph.
According to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, no one was seriously injured in the incident.
