On-Duty Lyft Driver Killed in Violent Miami Crash
- A Lyft driver was killed in a violent car crash Sunday afternoon.
- 6 other people were injured in the collision, three of them critically.
- Police have still not determined who was at fault for the crash.
A Lyft driver lost his life in an accident that also injured 6 others In Southwest Miami Sunday afternoon, at about 2:00 PM.
The Lyft driver, who was operating a Volkswagen, had 4 passengers aboard, all of whom survived the collision with a black BMW. The BMW had a male and a female occupant. According to published reports three of the injured victims were in critical condition and three were in stable condition on arrival to local emergency rooms.
It still has not been determined which vehicle was heading in which direction when the crash occurred, and authorities have also declined to speculate which driver may have been at fault.
What is known is that the crash which killed the driver was extremely violent, and occurred near SW 17th Street and SW 25th Avenue. 2 men and 4 women, all between the ages of 25 and 35, were all been taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital by ambulances after the crash.
Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll stated that the destruction could have been a lot worse, considering the time of day and the location. “The violent crash sent one vehicle into a yard and the other is just partly in the street. Right now they’re trying to determine who was going in what direction, what vehicle may have run the stop sign and what vehicle may not have been abiding by the laws. There’s a lot of questions that still need to be answered.”
Miami Police Traffic Homicide is handling the investigation into the deadly crash.
