News: Woman killed when crash sends car into West Park barbershop
WEST PARK, FL – A collision Friday morning sent a car into a Broward County barbershop, killing a young woman.
WSVN reports the accident occurred at 5600 Pembroke Road in West Park. According to police, the driver of a Dodge Charger did not stop at a flashing red light and took off before sheriff’s deputies could pull him over.
The Charger then slammed into another vehicle that was heading west on Pembroke Road, causing that car to crash into the Purple Palace Barber & Beauty Salon.
A passenger in the second vehicle, a 20-year-old woman, died in the crash. She was identified by her father as Brittania Hemmings.
The driver of the Charger, Connor Tyson, was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for going through a flashing traffic light, and was taken to the Broward County Jail. Authorities said there could be additional charges in the case.
Pembroke Road was shut down in both directions between 52nd and 57th Avenues after the wreck.
