News: Victim identified after dump truck crashes into Parkland canal
PARKLAND, FL – Authorities have identified the man who died in a dump truck accident at a work site in Parkland Monday morning, according to the Miami Herald.
This is an update to a previous story.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the victim was 24-year-old Jeffrey Seraphin of Belle Glade. Investigators say Seraphin was driving a Caterpillar dump truck near 15490 Loxahatchee Road at about 10:30 a.m. as he reversed the vehicle toward a man-made canal to dump a load of dirt and mud.
According to the BSO, Seraphin reversed past the point of safety and the truck started to slip into the water. He managed to make it out of the cab of the truck, but was unable to swim to safety. Rescue team divers later pulled Seraphin’s body from the water.
The accident remains under investigation by BSO traffic homicide detectives.
