News: Truck driven by suspected drunk driver slams into Vero Beach home
VERO BEACH, FL – A driver was taken into custody following a collision that caused a truck to crash into a home in Vero Beach on Saturday morning, according to WPTV.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said a Ford F-250 truck pulling a trailer crashed into a Kia Optima on 27th Avenue Southwest. The driver of the truck then lost control and slammed into a home on the block, where a couple who had been lying in bed were pinned underneath the vehicle. There was no immediate information regarding their condition.
The truck driver fled the scene on foot but was located in nearby woods by a helicopter and K-9 units.
Authorities said the driver, who was identified by witnesses, appeared to be heavily intoxicated.
