News: Suspects fleeing from police crash in front of Miami funeral home
MIAMI, FL – Two people fleeing from police were arrested after their vehicle crashed in Miami Saturday night, NBC Miami reports.
Miami-Dade Police said the suspects, 36-year-old Joseph Pereira and 24-year-old Mercedes Ariosa, were initially involved in robbing a man at gunpoint at Northwest 27th Avenue and Northwest 42nd Street.
When officers tried to stop them, the two fled the scene at high speed in a red pickup truck, according to investigators. They eventually crashed into another car at Northwest 7th Street and Northwest 35th Avenue in Little Havana.
One of the vehicles slammed into a sign at a nearby funeral home while a service was going on inside.
Pereira and Ariosa were arrested and charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery carjacking. Pereira faces several additional charges. The two will be arraigned next month.
