News: Suspected drunk driver charged in fatal crash on State Road 70
OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, FL – A man was arrested on drunk driving charges after a deadly crash Saturday evening in Okeechobee County, according to WPTV.
The accident happened near the intersection of State Road 70 and SW 48th Avenue at about 6 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a pickup truck failed to yield the right of way while attempting a left turn onto State Road 70. A woman driving an SUV was unable to avoid a collision and crashed into the side of the pickup.
The SUV driver, a 74-year-old woman from Okeechobee, was pronounced dead after being taken to Raulerson Hospital. A passenger in the SUV, a 4-year-old girl, was seriously injured.
The pickup driver, a 64-year-old man, was arrested on several charges, including DUI manslaughter and DUI serious bodily injury.
