News: Scooter rider fatally struck by car on I-195 West in Miami
MIAMI, FL – State troopers said a driver left the scene after hitting and killing a man on a scooter on I-195 in Miami early Saturday morning, according to the Miami Herald.
Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a Honda sedan crashed into the scooter while both were heading west on the Julia Tuttle Causeway near Alton Road at about 2:45 a.m.
The scooter rider was ejected from his vehicle and was transported to Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. The victim’s identity was not released.
The FHP said the Honda driver ran away from the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle behind.
The westbound lanes of I-195 were shut down for about five hours while authorities were investigating the crash.
