News: Scooter driver critically injured in collision with semi-truck in Miami
MIAMI, FL – A major intersection in Miami was shut down during Wednesday morning’s rush hour following an accident involving a semi-truck and a motor scooter, according to the Miami Herald.
Police and rescue crews responded following the crash that occurred in the area of Southwest 12th Avenue and Coral Way. Investigators determined that the driver of the scooter went through a red light and collided with the semi-truck.
The scooter rider was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with serious injuries.
The intersection was shut down in all directions as crews worked the scene, and drivers were advised to avoid the area and seek an alternate route.
