MIAMI, FL – Police said they have made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed a driver in Miami on Monday afternoon, reports NBC Miami.
This is an update to a previous story.
The suspect is a 17-year-old who authorities say was driving a stolen Range Rover at high speed when he went through a stop sign in the area of Northwest 11th Avenue and Northwest 3rd Street in the Little Havana neighborhood. The Range Rover crashed into a Nissan Altima in a collision that killed the Nissan driver, 63-year-old Mayra Sanchez. A passenger in her vehicle was critically injured.
The Range Rover ended up crashing into a fence, and its three occupants fled the area on foot.
Police apprehended the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle, who is now facing multiple charges including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash causing death. There was no word yet on whether the two passengers in the Range Rover would be charged in the case.
