News: Pedestrian struck, killed in North Lauderdale by pickup truck
NORTH LAUDERDALE, FL – Authorities said a pedestrian died after being hit by a pickup truck in North Lauderdale on Saturday night.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene at 5300 N. State Road 7 shortly after 9:30 p.m. Investigators said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was going north in the right lane of State Road 7 when a pedestrian darted into the path of the vehicle and was struck.
The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. Traffic homicide detectives said the victim did not enter the roadway in a designated pedestrian crosswalk.
The driver of the Silverado stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Detectives do not believe impairment or excessive speed were contributing factors in the accident.
