News: Pedestrian struck, killed by car on State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes
LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports it is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred in Lauderdale Lakes last month.
Authorities said 80-year-old Janet Caesar of Lauderdale Lakes was walking from west to east across the southbound lanes of North State Road 7 on April 21 at about 4:30 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound Toyota Scion XB in the far left lane.
Caesar was pronounced dead after being taken to Broward Health Medical Center. She was not in a designated crosswalk at the time she was hit, according to investigators.
The driver of the Toyota, 61-year-old Yanick Bien-Aime of Pembroke Pines, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Detectives do not believe that excessive speed, impairment or mechanical malfunction were contributing factors in the accident.
