News: Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle at Pompano Beach intersection
POMPANO BEACH, FL – An investigation is underway into a fatal pedestrian crash in Pompano Beach Saturday evening, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
The incident occurred on Sample Road, where two pedestrians were crossing at Military Trial at about 11:47 p.m. Investigators said the driver of a Ford Edge went through the intersection and swerved to avoid one of the pedestrians but struck the other.
The person who was hit, 38-year-old Robyn Hallow of Boca Raton, was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The driver, 51-year-old Denfield Gilead of Coral Springs, and the other pedestrian were not injured.
Gilead stopped, stayed at the scene, and cooperated with investigators, according to the BSO.
Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating the incident and do not consider excessive speed or impairment to have been contributing factors.
