News: Pedestrian struck and killed by minivan in Lake Worth Beach
LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL – Authorities in Palm Beach County say a pedestrian was fatally struck by a minivan that left the scene of the crash, reports WPTV.
The victim, identified as 29-year-old Rudy Leonel Martin Jimenes, was hit on North C Street in Lake Worth Beach shortly after midnight on New Year’s Day.
Investigators said Jimenes was lighting fireworks in the road when he was struck by a southbound Honda Odyssey and dragged to the intersection with Lake Avenue. He was pronounced dead later at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The vehicle left the scene but was pursued by witnesses who were able to identify the driver.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said charges are pending in the case.
