News: Pedestrian in Oakland Park struck, killed by pickup truck
OAKLAND PARK, FL – Authorities are investigating a crash in Oakland Park that killed a 69-year-old pedestrian Friday night.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s office, Fritzner Bristol of Oakland Park was walking across the eastbound lanes of Northeast 62nd Street shortly before 7:22 p.m. when he entered the path of an eastbound Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Bristol was struck by the vehicle, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigators said he was walking in an area where there was no designated pedestrian crosswalk at the time he was hit.
The driver of the pickup, 36-year-old Cody Cromartie of Oakland Park, and two juvenile passengers were not injured. Cromartie stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The sheriff’s office said excessive speed is not considered to have been a contributing factor in the accident. Traffic homicide detectives are conducting the investigation.
