News: Pedestrian hit by car while trying to cross I-595 near airport
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 595 in Broward County Wednesday morning, reports the Miami Herald.
The incident took place in the westbound lanes of I-595 in the vicinity of Exit 10B near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was hit by a sedan while trying to cross the interstate. The victim was hospitalized in critical condition.
The FHP said that when the driver stopped to check on the pedestrian, the sedan was then struck by a garbage truck.
All lanes of I-595 were closed in the area during the crash investigation.
