News: Pedestrian dies after being struck by hit-and-run driver in Palm Beach County
LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL – Authorities said a pedestrian has died after he was hit by a vehicle in Palm Beach County last week.
According to WPTV, 64-year-old Richard James Nicastro of West Palm Beach passed away from his injuries Sunday at St. Mary’s Medical Center.
The accident happened Nov. 23 on 10th Avenue N near Florida Mango Road at 7:42 a.m. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of a white van was headed east on 10th Avenue, crossed the double yellow lane and was driving in the painted median.
According to investigators, Nicastro stepped into the road between two parked vehicles to try and cross 10th Avenue N and when he entered the painted median, he was hit by the van. The van driver then left the scene without stopping to help and remains at large.
