News: Pedestrian dead after being struck by Tri-Rail train in Oakland Park
OAKLAND PARK, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a pedestrian hit by a train in Oakland Park Monday morning.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, a man was fatally struck by a Tri-Rail P615 commuter train near West Prospect Boulevard and Powerline Road at about 8:15 a.m.
A Tri-Rail spokesperson said the victim, whose name was not released, was trespassing on the tracks when the incident occurred. No passengers on the train were hurt.
The train was stopped for about two hours for the investigation before normal service resumed.
