News: Pedestrian dead after being hit by car in West Palm Beach
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Authorities were on the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident in West Palm Beach Monday afternoon, reports WPTV.
The incident happened near the intersection of S. Military Trail and Edward Road shortly after 3 p.m. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was identified as 47-year-old Santos Arnulfo Morales. Investigators said he was walking across the road from a median when the driver of a northbound Toyota Corolla swerved to avoid him. Morales darted into the path of the vehicle and was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota stayed at the scene of the accident. The sheriff’s office said Morales had been crossing in an area where there was no crosswalk.
The northbound lanes of Military Trail were closed to traffic in the area while the crash was being investigated and cleared.
