News: Motorcyclist dies after collision with SUV in Tamarac
TAMARAC, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a collision in Tamarac that killed a motorcyclist on Sunday night.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said the accident happened in the 800 block of North Pine Island Road at about 9:38 p.m. According to traffic homicide detectives, 29-year-old Stephanie Lynne Loxton of Plantation was driving a Chevrolet Equinox on Northwest 78th Street and was making a left turn onto North Pine Island Road.
A man riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle on North Pine Island Road hit his brakes, slid across the road and crashed into the driver’s side of the Equinox. The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said Loxton stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Detectives investigating the crash say they are not considering excessive speed or mechanical malfunction as contributing factors.
