News: Miami-Dade detectives make arrest in fatal hit-and-run crash
HOMESTEAD, FL – An arrest has been made in a hit-and-run crash that killed a scooter rider in Miami-Dade County Sunday morning, according to WPLG.
The accident happened in the vicinity of North Krome Avenue and Northeast 14th Street in Homestead at about 3:40 a.m. Investigators said 58-year-old David Linares of Florida City was driving a Dodge Dakota pickup truck when he struck and killed a 36-year-old man who was riding a scooter on Northeast 14th Street.
According to Miami-Dade police, Linares left the scene of the incident and was later spotted removing a a metal rack from the pickup truck.
He was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and evidence tampering, and was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
