News: Man under arrest for crash that killed bicyclist in Fort Lauderdale
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Police in Fort Lauderdale say they have made an arrest in a crash that caused the death of a bicyclist.
According to WPLG, 37-year-old Pedro Ramon Fluriach was arrested for the incident that happened in the 2600 block East Las Olas Boulevard. The name of the bicycle rider who was killed was not released.
Fluriach was behind the wheel of a 2010 GMC Sierra, and told police he hit something that caused deployment of the air bags and the hood to go into the windshield. Police said Fluriach kept going after the crash and turned onto Fiesta Way before officers pulled him over.
Police said they began a DUI investigation after officers detected an odor of an alcoholic type of beverage from Fluriach. Results of a blood test on the suspect are pending.
