News: Man killed when train hits dump truck in Palm Beach County
LAKE WORTH, FL – A driver died after his vehicle was struck by a train in Palm Beach County Friday afternoon, reports the Palm Beach Post.
The victim was identified as 37-year-old Danilo Vargas of Greenacres. Investigators with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Vargas was driving a dump truck north on U.S. 441. He made a left turn onto Morning Star Drive to go over a railroad crossing at about 2:16 p.m.
The dump truck entered the path of a southbound Georgia Pacific train and was struck. Vargas was thrown from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The train’s conductor was not injured.
