News: Man killed when tractor-trailer rear-ends SUV on I-95 south
DELRAY BEACH, FL – A driver was killed when his SUV was struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 Tuesday morning, WPTV reports.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the 32-year-old victim had stopped in the right southbound lane of I-95 near Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach at about 5:15 a.m.
The driver of a tractor-trailer was unable to avoid the SUV and struck it from behind. The SUV caught fire and the driver, a Lake Worth resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, a 49-year-old man from Lake Worth, sustained minor injuries.
All southbound lanes of I-95 were shut down while the wreckage was being cleared and the scene investigated. Traffic delays stretched for miles to the exit for Hypoluxo Road.
