News: Man fatally struck by truck after getting out of car on Florida Turnpike
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – State troopers said a motorist died after getting hit by a truck on the Florida Turnpike in Miami-Dade County early Saturday morning, WPLG reports.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim lost control of a Mercedes-Benz while driving south near Quail Roost Drive and struck a concrete barrier wall at about 4 a.m.
When he got out of his car and started walking along the turnpike, the man was struck by a tractor-trailer, investigators said. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, died at the scene.
The turnpike’s southbound lanes were closed following the accident, with traffic diverted to exit at Quail Roost Drive.
