News: Hollywood man dies after SUV slams into tree in Dania Beach
DANIA BEACH, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident that occurred in Dania Beach last week.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the scene in the 300 block of East Dania Beach Boulevard Aug. 18 at about 10:44 p.m.
Detectives said 63-year-old Bossuet Petit of Hollywood was driving a Nissan Pathfinder westbound when he crossed the center median, crossed all three lanes of eastbound traffic, went onto a sidewalk and shoulder, and then crashed into a tree.
Petit was pronounced dead at the scene by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
A preliminary investigation by traffic homicide detectives indicated that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
