News: Hit-and-run driver sought following death of pedestrian in Miami Beach
MIAMI BEACH, FL – Authorities are trying to track down the hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian in Miami Beach last week, according to WPLG.
The Miami Beach Police Department said a man in his 50s was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Fifth Street at Michigan Avenue Thursday night at about 7 p.m.
The driver, who was behind the wheel of a white Kia Sorrento, left the scene and was last seen on the MacArthur Causeway. The Kia was located on Friday in Opa-Locka after a Crime Stoppers tip and was towed away to be checked by police for clues.
Investigators said the vehicle did have the right of way at the time of the crash, but added that the driver will still face charges for leaving the scene.
