News: Hit-and-run driver killed in Pembroke Park crash, police say
PEMBROKE PARK, FL – Authorities said a driver who left the scene of a previous accident was killed in a crash in Pembroke Park Thursday night.
According to WSVN, the incident began as police officers attempted a traffic stop of a speeding driver in the 6600 block of Miramar Parkway at about 9 p.m.
Police said the stop was discontinued after the driver did not comply, and the driver then struck a pedestrian in the vicinity of Southwest 34th Street and 64th Avenue.
The vehicle continued on and crashed on Hallandale Beach Boulevard. The driver was thrown from the car and pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The pedestrian struck was hospitalized but was expected to survive.
Hallandale Beach Boulevard was shut down in both directions while the scene was being cleared.
