News: Hit-and-run crash kills man on jet ski near Rickenbacker Marina
MIAMI, FL – Police are investigating a hit-and-run boat accident that killed a man on a jet-ski Saturday afternoon, NBC Miami reports.
Authorities say the victim, identified as 26-year-old Alcides Valdez, was riding his personal watercraft near Rickenbacker Marina at 2:19 p.m. when he was struck by a 30-foot boat. He was pronounced dead at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
A search is now underway for the operator of the vessel, which was last seen heading north from the Rickenbacker Causeway.
It had 10 to 15 passengers on board at the time. Investigators said the boat should have damage to it, and either paint or transfer markings from the personal watercraft on its right side.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information regarding the crash was asked to call Crime-Stoppers.
