News: Fatal car accident shuts down southbound lanes of Interstate 95
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – A car accident left a man dead and shut down a portion of Interstate 95 on Wednesday afternoon, the Miami Herald reported.
The crash happened on I-95 south near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at about 2:30 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was driving a Toyota Matrix when the car veered off the road and onto a shoulder of the interstate.
The Matrix entered a construction zone, struck a steel support column and then hit a rock pile. The driver, an Apopka resident, died at the scene.
All lanes of I-95 south were closed for about two hours while the scene was being cleared.
