News: Elderly couple hit by suspected drunk driver at Vero Beach parade
VERO BEACH, FL – Police said two people were injured when they were hit by a suspected drunk driver at the Vero Beach Christmas Parade Saturday night, according to TC Palm.
The accident happened in the 3400 block of Ocean Drive, where two spectators were loading chairs into the trunk of their car at about 7 p.m. after the parade.The couple was hit from behind by a car driven by 72-year-old Susan Harvey of Vero Beach, police said.
The victims, a man and woman both in their 90s, were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Harvey was charged with driving under the influence after police said her blood alcohol content was nearly twice the legal limit.
