News: Driver killed in single-vehicle accident in Dania Beach
DANIA BEACH, FL – A driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Dania Beach last week, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
The accident occurred Wednesday at the intersection of Marina Road and Southwest 30th Avenue at about 10:41 p.m. Investigators said 39-year-old Joseph Michael Demczuk of Hollywood was driving a Chevy Tahoe east on Marina Road and went through a posted stop sign.
The vehicle kept going and struck a four-foot concrete barrier wall, causing the driver’s side airbag to deploy.
Demczuk was removed from the vehicle by sheriff’s office deputies and was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash, and said that excessive speed and mechanical malfunction are not considered to have been contributing factors.
