News: Driver dies after disabled car struck from behind on I-95
WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman died after her car was struck by another vehicle on Interstate 95 Tuesday morning.
WPTV reports the incident happened on I-95 north near the exit for 45th Street in West Palm Beach. A 60-year-old woman was driving north when her car broke down in the middle of the interstate at about 8:38 a.m.
The driver of a northbound pickup truck could not avoid the car and hit the disabled vehicle from behind. The woman, a Port St. Lucie resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 48-year-old Boca Raton man who was driving the pickup sustained minor injuries.
The northbound lanes of I-95 were shut down while investigators processed the scene, and the highway reopened just after noon.
