News: Driver, 63, dies after crashing into tree in Cooper City
COOPER CITY, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office reports it is investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a driver in Cooper City late Sunday night.
The victim was identified as 63-year-old William Watts of Davie. Watts was driving a Nissan Altima south on Pine Island Road when the accident occurred at about 11:41 p.m.
Investigators said he veered off the roadway for an unknown reason and hit a curb on the west side of the road. Watts then veered toward the center median, sideswiped a tree and struck another tree head-on.
He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No other vehicles were involved.
The investigation into the crash is being conducted by Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide detectives.
