News: Detectives searching for driver involved in fatal Lauderdale Lakes hit-and-run
LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL – The Broward Sheriff’s Office is searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Lauderdale Lakes last Thursday evening.
The sheriff’s office issued a news release on the incident that occurred at the intersection of North State Road 7 and Northwest 19th Street at about 6:47 p.m.
Investigators said a pedestrian who was either in the crosswalk or just north of the crosswalk was struck by a vehicle. The man was pronounced dead after being taken to Broward Health Medical Center. His identity was not released.
The vehicle involved in the crash stopped and then changed lanes, and was subsequently hit in the back by a Hyundai Sonata, according to detectives. Witnesses said the driver of the unknown vehicle stopped again, reversed, and then fled the scene.
The vehicle was described as a 2019 or newer dark-colored Chevrolet Silverado, and is now being sought by detectives.
