News: Dania Beach man fatally struck by car on South Federal Highway
DANIA BEACH, FL – A Dania Beach man was fatally struck by a vehicle last Thursday night, authorities said.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of the pedestrian accident as 63-year-old William Bessing.
Investigators said Bessing was walking eastbound across the 1300 block of South Federal Highway at about 10:23 p.m. when he entered the path of a 2019 Nissan Rogue and was struck. Bessing was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital and pronounced dead.
The driver of the Nissan, 53-year-old Rodney Moore of Dania Beach, stopped his vehicle, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are continuing their investigation into the incident, and said excessive speed is not believed to have been a contributing factor.
