News: Construction worker killed in Pompano Beach hit-and-run crash
POMPANO BEACH, FL – Authorities said a construction worker was struck and killed in Pompano Beach Thursday morning by a driver who left the scene.
According to NBC Miami, the worker was hit in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Sample Road at about 6:30 a.m. The driver involved took off without stopping to help, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The victim’s name was not immediately released. Officials said he was a subcontractor for the Florida Department of Transportation.
No description was available yet of the vehicle involved.
The express lanes of I-95 north were temporarily shut down near Sample Road for the crash investigation.
