News: Child hospitalized after SUV, tractor-trailer collide in Hallandale Beach
HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – A child was hospitalized after a car and a tractor-trailer collided Monday morning in Hallandale Beach, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to WSVN, the driver of an SUV lost control of their vehicle on Interstate 95 north near Hallandale Beach Boulevard. The SUV entered the path of an 18-wheeler, causing the truck to jackknife.
The SUV wound up against a median wall, trapping a 4-year-old child inside. The child was pulled from the vehicle and taken to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The child’s injuries were reported to be serious but not life-threatening.
The SUV driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, while the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
All but one lane of traffic was shut down for the crash investigation, slowing traffic through the area.
