News: Car and pickup involved in fatal head-on crash in Opa-Locka
OPA-LOCKA, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol said a head-on crash in Opa-Locka Friday killed a passenger in one of the vehicles.
According to WPLG, the accident happened in the vicinity of State Road 9 and Northwest 22nd Street.
State troopers said the driver of a pickup truck drove across a center median into the eastbound lanes of State Road 9 and collided with a sedan shortly before 12:30 p.m.
A man riding in the front seat of the sedan was killed while the driver of the sedan was seriously injured and transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The driver of the pickup was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
The FHP and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and closed down the roadway.
Investigators are trying to determine whether impairment on the part of the pickup driver was a contributing factor.
