News: Car and motorcycle involved in fatal collision on I-95 south in Fort Lauderdale
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Authorities said a collision in Fort Lauderdale early Saturday morning claimed the life of a teenage motorcyclist.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the 18-year-old victim was riding a Yamaha motorcycle south on Interstate 95 near Sheridan Street at about 5:15 a.m. when he slammed into the back of a Chevy Impala. The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened after the motorcycle rider failed to slow down.
He fell onto the roadway and was pronounced dead after being transported to Memorial Regional Hospital. The FHP said the driver of the Impala remained at the scene.
The accident closed I-95 near the scene for hours before reopening later in the morning.
