News: Alleged drunk driver involved in fatal wrong-way crash in Sunrise
SUNRISE, FL – A suspected drunk driver going the wrong way was involved in a fatal collision in Sunrise on Saturday night, police said.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the accident happened on North University Drive near Oakland Park Boulevard shortly after 11 p.m.
Sunrise police said a 42-year-old Tamarac man was driving a Chevy Tahoe north in the southbound lanes of University Drive when he first struck a Nissan Rogue, then a Ford Flex. The driver of the Nissan, a 67-year-old Sunrise man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the Ford, both Coral Springs residents, were not injured. The Chevy driver was hospitalized with minor injuries, then transported to the Broward County Jail.
Police say the Chevy driver, whose name was not released, was driving under the influence and was driving with a suspended license.
