News: 9 rescued by Coast Guard after boat takes on water near Peanut Island
LAKE WORTH, FL – The Coast Guard said nine people were rescued after their boat started taking on water near Peanut Island in Palm Beach County on Sunday.
In a news release, the Coast Guard said a Station Lake Worth Inlet watchstander was notified of the problem aboard the 20-foot vessel after receiving a 911 dispatch from the Palm Beach Police Department at about 5 p.m.
A Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet boat crew and good Samaritans came to the rescue, and the boaters were safely returned to shore by the Lake Worth Inlet small boat rescue crew. No injuries were reported.
The Coast Guard said the incident served as another reminder of the importance of wearing a life jacket when involved in activities on the water.
