News: 71-year-old man fatally struck by hit-and-run driver in Homestead
HOMESTEAD, FL – Police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a man in Homestead on Sunday, according to a report by WSVN.
The victim, identified as 71-year-old Carlos Diaz, was hit by a vehicle in the area of Northwest 8th Street. Family members said the incident happened as he walked on a sidewalk to the store where he worked. Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homestead police said the driver who struck Diaz sped away from the scene, ran a red light and then collided with another car. The hit-and-run driver took off on foot, according to police. Investigators are now hoping evidence gathered from the vehicle involved can help lead them to the suspect.
Anyone with information regarding the incident was asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers.
