News: 70-year-old man dies after scooter crash in Hillsboro Beach
HILLSBORO BEACH, FL – Authorities said a man died of injuries sustained when his scooter crashed in Hillsboro Beach earlier this month, Boca News Now reported.
The victim was identified as 70-year-old John Meehan. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said Meehan was riding a scooter along Hillsboro Mile July 5 when he drove off the roadway, onto a grass swale and then back onto the road where he fell to the ground. Investigators said he was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Meehan was taken to Broward Health North with head injuries, and he passed away July 14.
Traffic homicide detectives who are investigating the accident said that impairment appears to have been a contributing factor.
